Minnesota Bowhunters Challenge — Participant Guide
MNBOW — Minnesota Bowhunters Challenge

Participant Guide

Everything you need to know to get your squad registered, start submitting harvests, and compete for the title.

Getting Started

  1. 1
    Become an MNBOW Member

All squad members must hold a current MNBOW membership — free or paid — before seasons end. Not a member yet? Sign up at mnbowhunters.com

  2. 2
Fill Out the Squad Creation Form

Complete the Squad Creation form on the website. Provide your squad name, home region, and the name and email address of each member.

  3. 3
    Wait for Admin Approval

League administrators review your registration and verify member eligibility. This typically takes a short time after submission.

  4. 4
    You're In — Start Hunting

You'll receive an email when your Squad Page is live, along with a link to view it. From that point, squad members can begin submitting harvests and will automatically be notified of new missions throughout the season.

How Points Work

Every legally harvested animal taken in Minnesota with archery equipment during the active season is worth points. Point values vary by animal — check the current scoring table on the Rankings page. Points from all squad members are combined into your squad's total. The squad with the most points at season's end wins.

Counts toward points Does not count
Archery harvests in Minnesota Harvests taken in other states
Any legal archery equipment Firearms or non-archery equipment
Harvests during the active season Submissions after season close
Approved submissions Rejected or pending submissions

Submitting a Harvest

  1. 1
    Take a Clear Photo

Photograph your harvested animal so it's clearly visible. Field photos are fine — no studio setup needed.

  2. 2
    Go to Submit a Harvest

Fill out the form on the website. You'll need the animal type, harvest date, and your photo.

  3. 3
    Wait for Approval

An admin reviews every submission before points are added. You'll receive an email when it's approved — or if there's an issue.

  4. 4
    Points Are Added Automatically

Once approved, your squad's leaderboard standing updates right away. Check the Rankings page to see where you stand.

  • Each submission is one animal. You can submit as many times as you want during the season.
  • Submitting doesn't guarantee approval — an admin may reach out if something needs clarification.
  • All animals must be taken legally under Minnesota DNR regulations.
  • All harvest photos must be taken with respect and good sportsmanship in mind. Any photo deemed disrespectful toward the harvested animal will result in automatic disqualification of that submission.

Missions

Missions are bonus point opportunities posted throughout the season. Keep an eye on the Rankings page — they can open and close quickly, and some are first-come-first-served.

Type 1
Harvest Mission

Take a specific animal during the mission window. Bonus points are added automatically when your harvest submission is approved. No extra steps needed.

Type 2
Activity Mission

Complete a non-harvest challenge — a scouting task, community goal, or social activity. An admin verifies completion and awards points manually. The mission description will tell you exactly what's needed.

Mission Exceptions Some missions may allow out-of-state harvests or non-archery equipment. The mission description will always say so explicitly. If it doesn't mention an exception, standard rules apply.

Checking the Standings

The Rankings page is public and updates in real time as harvests are approved. You can see every squad's total points, harvest count, and ranking. Click any squad name to view their full profile and harvest gallery.

A Few Rules to Know

  • You can only be on one squad per season.
  • All harvests must be taken in Minnesota with legal archery equipment unless a mission specifically states otherwise.
  • All squad members must be current MNBOW members for the entire season.
  • Don't submit the same animal twice. Duplicate submissions will be rejected.
  • Harvest photos must reflect respect and good sportsmanship. Any photo deemed disrespectful toward the harvested animal will result in automatic disqualification of that harvest.
  • Play fair. Fraudulent submissions or attempts to game the scoring system result in disqualification.
